Frequently asked questions about naturopathic medicine

Public transport?

West Leederville Train station on the Fremantle line is metres from the clinic. Bus routes 81 – 85 pass (Bus timetable 43) down Cambridge Street, minutes’ walk to Rosslyn Street.

Parking?

Enter the shared driveway between Dermatology WA (number 5) and Number 9 (blue wall) to find 3 dedicated bays at the rear of the building. Please only park in the bays allocated to 9 Rosslyn Street. There is also 2-hour free parking on Rosslyn Street. Railway Parade and Northwood Streets have metered parking. The underground carpark at West Leederville Shopping Centre has 2-hour free parking with a ticket. If you walk away from the elevator that takes you to the shopping centre towards the fire exit, it will take you directly to Rosslyn Street.

Private Health Rebates?

From 1 April 2019, private health insurers were no longer permitted to provide cover for a wide range of natural therapies, including naturopathy, and herbal medicine despite a strong evidence base supporting their role in preventative health care. Currently there is no rebate available for Smith & Co’s services.

Cancellation policy?

To enable waitlisted patients to be notified, 48 hours’ notice is appreciated. Cancellation fees will be charged (50% consultation fee) for less than 24 hours’ notice.

Initial Consult         60 - 75 mins   $235

Review consult       45 - 60 mins   $140

Express consult     30 mins           $85

 

Consultations are GST-exempt; however, all prescriptions incur GST.The clinic accepts Mastercard, Visa, AMEX, EFTPOS cards.

What should I bring?

Please bring a list of current medications so potential herb/drug/nutrient contraindications can be investigated. If you have had recent blood work or screening reports, please bring them along.

What happens in a consultation?

A comprehensive case history will be taken exploring your presentation in the context of your life for example, your diet, your work, relationships, exercise, and medications. There is a focus on multiple body systems during case-taking and treatments. In most cases, a maximum of 3 elements will form your prescription.

What is naturopathy?

Naturopathy takes a holistic approach to healthcare that encompasses all aspects of a person’s health, including physical, psychological, and spiritual health. In my practice, treatment modalities focus on herbal medicine, wholefood nutrition and nutritional supplementation.
